Just because the warm days are over, and it’s getting a little chilly, doesn’t mean that we need to tone down the fun! Nobody can argue the beauty of a BC beach-day but we are lucky to have a gorgeous sunset coloured fall to bundle up in. Not everybody can pick apples and grow pumpkins in their backyard, but us BC babes have the best of both worlds – so let’s take full advantage of all that the change of seasons has to bring! I’m talkin’ corn mazes, pumpkin patches, wine tasting and even some good ol’ sports games. Keep reading to find out about my five favourite fall activities – plus, there might be a giveaway waiting for you at the end.
1) Abby Roadside
The Roadside Harvest Festival is the place to be in the Abby area, pull on up to corn mazes, games and even tulip planting. They have mazes for all different ages and skill levels. Enjoy wine and beer from local breweries, photos booths, food trucks AND you can bring your pets.
Abby Roadside feels like you’re stepping right into fall. But hurry, it’s only open until October 15th!!

2) Ghost Train
This year aliens have invaded the Stanley Park Ghost Train. Each year, the Stanley Park Ghost Train takes riders on a journey through the park grounds, which is decked out in a whimsical world of ghosts and ghouls. The ghost train isn’t the only activity here, there are arts and crafts, a haunted maze and a pumpkin patch. Even though this is a spooky adventure, it’s fun for the whole family.
Location: Pipeline Road in Stanley Park, via the West Georgia Street park entrance.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 5:30pm to 9:30pm, Friday to Sunday, 5:30pm to 10:00pm October 13-31st

Nothing says fall like football. Spring isn’t the only time to cheer from the stands. Our own BC Lions play a number of home games throughout the fall, and let me tell you – from footlong hot dogs to jumbo beers, it is a super good time! Dress up in your Lions colors, round up a group of friends and get rowdy! Don’t miss a cheer from the Felions!
Location: BC Place – 777 Pacific Blvd, Vancouver, BC V6B 4Y8
4) Taves Family Farms Applebarn
Taves Family Farm invites you to “come to the farm for a taste of the country” and trust me, it is the best taste of country you can get! You can pick from 8 different varieties of fresh local apples, take a hayride into the pumpkin patch and even snack on a caramel apple if you’re wanting a treat. There are corn mazes, pony rides, a petting barn, bee observatory and APPLE CIDER SLUSHIES – which are to die for. Taves is a fall must-stop for you and the whole family.
Location: 333 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 8A7
Hours: Monday-Wednesday 9AM-5:30, Thursday-Sunday 9AM-6:30
5) Maan Farms
Mann Farms combines the Stanley Park Ghost Ride, with a fall maze, giving you a haunted corn maze – can you handle it? Don’t worry, there’s no fear that the Maan farm-made fudge can’t fix. You’ll be leaving with buckets of it! One of my favorite stops at Maan is their moonlit wagon ride, it’s gorgeous. They have a petting zoo and pedal karts. Don’t miss the wine tasting in their estate winery, which supplies wine to over seventy wineries – it’s that good! If you’re looking for a farm wedding location, this is your spot!
Location: 790 McKenzie Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 7N4
Hours: 9AM-6PM 7 days a week
Okay, so no more excuses for the post-summer blues. Looks like you’ve got weekend plans from now until Christmas – plus, you’re going to want to come back to some of these spots more than once, maybe I’ll even see YOU there!
