Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like me… you likely have NO IDEA what you’re wearing! We reached out to the Halloween experts at Value Village and KISS for some tips on the hot October 31st trends, and some dress-up idea’s. Did you know that nearly half of Canadians named Game of Thrones as the top TV show to inspire group costumes this year? Canadians also anticipate groups to tap into movies for costume ideas, including Wonder Woman (49%), Star Wars (44%) and Despicable Me 3 (37%). Our friends at Value Village say that Traditional Halloween themes, such as witches and vampires, will inspire 36 percent of Canadians – a trend we see year after year. As many as HALF of millennials like to match their significant other, so I’ve included some couples costume ideas below for you as well.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the Halloween make-up tips from our friends at Kiss Cosmetics. Take a peek at my top seven costume ideas this year… and keep reading for a GIVEAWAY.
- Paper Doll
Who doesn’t remember these? Cutting along the line, coloring them in and then folding them onto your paper dolls. This costume is so easy and can be made in minutes! Go get some Bristol boards from the dollar store and start cutting!

One of my all time favorite movies, Cher is so easy to dress up as. Go find anything yellow and plaid and you’re pretty much set!
- Dunkin donuts
This is for guys, girls, or both! Grab your favorite NBA jersey and a box of donuts. You will have a very punny costume and will be the star of the party handing out donuts.
- Formal apology
If you work in an office, this one is a no brainer! Put on your work suit or dress to the nines. Just stick I name tag on that says “I’m Sorry” and your costume is complete.
- Woody and Jessie –Toy Story
Who doesn’t love a little cartoon romance. Grab your guy or gal, and go get some cowboy gear (which I’m sure you all have).
For this one, you can get creative or you can buy it at a store. This super cute costume is bound to make everyone jealous.
- SnapChat Filter’s
I love this one! Be a Snapchat filter, from the deer to the hotdog you have so many options. Not only that, you will have a personal filter all night long. Snap away!
